Spend your holiday in Gornji Humac, one of the oldest villages on the island of Brač. It is the highest settlement (485 meters above sea level) across all Dalmatian islands. The cool nights are most pleasant, ensuring a good night’s sleep. The beach Zlatni Rat in Bol, which is a natural phenomenon, is only 12 kilometers away. Gornji Humac is also well connected with other beaches and villages on the island.
The Michieli-Tomić house has nine bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, toilet, phone and satellite system. There is also a typical Dalmatian konoba (restaurant) and a spacious parking lot. When you opt for our room and board service with breakfast included, in the evenings we offer home made specialties, that is, food and drink we produced ourselves. The konoba (restaurant) is part of an 800-year-old family house. Konoba is a Croatian term for an underground storage room. In Dalmatia, it is synonymous with tavern.
Our restaurant is in fact an old wine cellar, with all its rustic elements from times past. You can find an old wine press – turan, large wooden barrels and an old trough used for wine fermentation. All our wine is manufactured the old way. In the konoba there is an old oil press – toć, a vintage oil storage chest, a grindstone for corn, wheat etc, as well as many other objects usually found in Dalmatian konobas.
Our food and wine is made entirely out of home made ingredients.
Homemade wines; white and red
Homemade prošek (desert wine)
Homemade brandy; grape brandy; fruit brandy; walnut brandy served with our own dry figs.
Appetizers: homemade pršut (smoked ham), homemade cheese, salted sardines, homemade soup, lamp tripes, pašta fažol (pasta and bean soup)
Main dishes: lamb, kid goat meat, veal, beef, pork, chicken (all homegrown), various fresh fish from the Adriatic
Side dishes: ash-baked potatoes, mangel, olives, scallions, cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce… all from our own Brač garden. We also offer fresh, warm bread straight out of our wood-fired oven. For dessert, there is a selection of homemade pastries, all native to Brač. Bon appetit!
